Liberty Defense closed out June with another aviation security win. On June 25, Liberty Defense Holdings (NASDAQ: DETX; TSXV: SCAN) announced a new HEXWAVE award at a major international U.S. airport that serves more than 30 million domestic and international passengers annually and ranks among the top 20 busiest airports in the United States.
Liberty Defense develops HEXWAVE, a screening system that combines millimeter wave technology, advanced 3D imaging and artificial intelligence to identify concealed metallic and non-metallic weapons and threats, including liquid, plastic and powder explosives. Under the new award, HEXWAVE systems will be deployed at designated aviation worker screening checkpoints to provide fast, contactless screening — the use case the company has been building on at large U.S. hubs, and one the release frames as an expansion of its aviation footprint. Each new marquee airport deployment gives the company a reference customer as it pushes HEXWAVE into aviation, critical infrastructure and other security markets.
Liberty Defense is a thinly traded micro-cap and did not disclose the dollar value of the award, leaving its near-term revenue contribution uncertain. This is market commentary, not investment advice — small-cap technology stocks are highly speculative and you can lose your entire investment.
